NRF Team Neuro raises $38,200 in City to Bay 2024!
Thank you NRF Team Neuro - fuelling groundbreaking neurosurgical research at the 50th City to Bay
We are very proud to announce that NRF Team Neuro was successful in raising an incredible $38,200 for neurosurgical research in the 50th Anniversary City to Bay Fun Run!
Our wonderful volunteers were up with the sun at 5:00am to begin setting up NRF base camp to prepare for NRF Team Neuro's arrival. Fortunately, it was a gorgeous day for our crew and racers.
Several of our dedicated researchers donned an apron, ensuring our racers had well-deserved refreshments waiting at the finish line.
A huge thank you to our long-term sponsors Jones Radiology. Not only do they support the event and the NRF in general, but our very first racer to cross the finish line at an impressive 00:47:11 was Mark Sparnon from the Jones Radiology - A Clearer Picture team.
It wasnt long before the rest of the team crossed the line too
Altogether 84 individuals and 4 teams joined NRF Team Neuro, many to remember loved ones lost to diseases such as brain cancer, childhood brain swelling, and traumatic brain injury.
Incredible effort from long-time supporters Tony Tony Tony bringing the energy and raising funds for Traumatic Brain Injury.
Mario and Pat ran in honour of her sister for team Running for Mel, raising funds for vital brain cancer research.
One of our biggest teams this year were newbies team Surfcon SA. Sporting their own custom shirts, they ran to support one of their own currently battling a cancer diagnosis, raising much needed funds for cutting-edge neurosurgical research.
NRF Chair of Brain Tumour Research Stuart Pitson and NRF Vice-President and Neurosurgeon Dr Santosh Poonnoose laced up their sneakers to help the cause, bringing the family along too.
A massive thank you to everyone who walked, ran and fundraised – without you we could not fund life-saving neurosurgical research.
100% of all donations and fundraising will go directly to innovative new research.
If you missed out on all the excitement and endorphins this year fear not, NRF Team Neuro will race again next year! Whatever your speed we've got you, so keep an eye out for registrations opening and join the fun!
