Traumatic Brain injury (TBI) is the leading cause of disability and death worldwide and is associated with significant impairment in brain function, impacting cognitive, emotional, behavioural and physical functioning. It is estimated that between 54 and 60 million people worldwide suffer from a TBI each year. Stephanie Plummer's research looks at using a naturally occuring molecule in the brain and developing this into a treatment to help reduce injury and improve outcome for TBI patients'.
